The January 17, 1940 issue of the motion picture trade paper "The Exhibitor" carried an ad for "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".

What made the ad unusual was the choice of some hand lettering - not serious or suspenseful, but rather big, bold, casual and somewhat playful.

With this in mind, the digital version of this type design is called Theater Candy JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.
