Lale

With the design of the Lale dingbat typeface, my aim was to use Opentype technology to enhance the possibilities of ‘picture’ fonts. By combining the substitution features included in ligatures, this font does not only offer the basic 52 signs, but rather plays with various glyph combinations to offer 156 different signs that can then be combined with 30 different stems.

The result, is over 4,800 design solutions that can easily be accessed by a sequence of letters or numbers; the keyboard has just become your best design tool.
