Identification

Identification by Device is an experimental display font family that transforms ordinary letters into a striking system of futuristic symbols. Designed by Rian Hughes, this unconventional typeface combines bold geometric letterforms with circular frames, mechanical details, connecting lines, and miniature numerical markings to create typography that feels like a cross between industrial labeling, scientific diagrams, and coded communication.

Each character becomes its own distinctive graphic element, giving Identification a technical, modular appearance that's ideal for science fiction branding, futuristic interfaces, experimental posters, electronic music artwork, technology-inspired packaging, and avant-garde editorial design. Its repeating circular structures and intricate details create compelling visual patterns, especially when letters are arranged in sequences or connected across a composition.

The Identification family includes five unique styles, offering creative flexibility for building complex typographic systems and visually engaging designs. Whether you're developing an otherworldly identity, creating a cryptic visual language, or adding an industrial edge to your artwork, Identification turns typography into a graphic experience that's anything but ordinary.
