Kelier

Buy NowInspired by the rough asceticism of cave monastic cells, Kelier is a continuation of a series of carved–forged typefaces (such as Morta and Kingfall), where the form is mainly composed of straight, rough edges. The font family includes three styles: Novice (rough straight shapes with sharp corners), Elder (softer shapes with rounded corners), Hermit (decorated with scratches and scuffs).
The name of the font is an interpretation of the word “cell” (“келія” in Ukrainian). The simplicity of the letter form, as if carved in stone, comes from the ascetic lifestyle of hermit monks and the simplicity of the furnishings of their cells. The three styles of the font family describe three different characters of monks: Kelier Novice — a young “uncouth” monk, expressed by a rough angular letter shape; Kelier Elder — an experienced senior monk, expressed by a rounded letter shape; Kelier Hermit — a hermit monk, expressed by a worn, scratched letter shape.
