Idle Race

Idle Race combines machine-made geometry with swollen, rounded forms that feel more like molded plastic than technical lettering. The result sits in an unusual space between mechanical structure and psychedelic volume.

Bowling equipment gives that collision a natural home. Modern bowling balls are smooth molded objects whose colour often swirls, marbles or blooms through the surface. Idle Race can handle ball model names, box graphics, pro-shop displays and tournament titles while echoing both the rounded material and the distorted geometry of the product itself.

Disc golf offers a related application. Swirled, pearlescent, translucent and colour-burst plastics can turn the material into part of a disc’s identity; Idle Race works well for model names, limited-edition stamps, tournament graphics and retail displays, leaving flight numbers and other functional information to a clearer companion face.

The same mixture of machinery and softness extends into automated environments built around foam, liquid and rounded synthetic forms. Car washes can use Idle Race for tunnel names, wash-package titles and large bay graphics, while soft-serve, frozen-yogurt and slush counters can use it for product names, flavour graphics and dispenser-zone headings.

Foam slides, clogs, pool gear and other molded recreational products provide another branch, particularly where bright colour and rounded material are central to the object. Idle Race is strongest where mechanical geometry has been softened into something tactile, glossy and slightly psychedelic.
