Can I use a recently purchased font to create personalized or custom products for resale?
Our standard desktop license allows you to create stock designs for resale, such as “Happy Birthday” or other static phrases that are reproduced exactly the same for each customer. However, if a customer requests a personalized version (for example, “Happy Birthday Jim”), this counts as customized use and requires an additional license upgrade.
By default, our license agreement does not permit creating and selling personalized or customized products (whether physical or digital) without the appropriate license. If the text on the product can be altered per order, an upgrade is needed. Submit an online support request and we’ll guide you toward the correct license.
Examples of personalized products include (but aren’t limited to):
- Customized T-shirts
- Greeting cards and invitations
- Mugs, stickers, postcards, and business cards
- On-demand products sold through platforms like Esty, Café Press, Zazzle, or similar services
We offer different license options depending on your business model, whether customers can preview their personalized text live before purchase, or if they order custom text without seeing a preview.
